What Is Dyspraxia?

Most people who don't know me always ask me this question. I tell them that my brain is like a jigsaw puzzle and I have a piece missing and I am forever trying to find that piece and the missing piece of my brain is the key to understanding most things. Sometimes those puzzle pieces in my brain scatter around and that's when I tend to get in awkward situations and I get frustrated with life in general. This to me is what I think Dyspraxia is.

Examples of things that I find difficult:
I can't read peoples faces
I find it difficult to know when is the best time to join in when people are having a conversation
Understanding social cues
Taking things too literally (Jokes and lies)

Of course you can use the complicated version that you find in books but I think that if you come up with a simple definition of what dyspraxia means to you then I find that people tend to understand better and can  visualise a puzzle with a piece missing. Having dyspraxia doesn't mean its a negative thing only you can make it negative or a positive. I have achieved a lot things here are just some:
I passed my driving test in 2008
I got an A in my child development
I got a C in my level three diploma in childcare
I have a lovely bunch of friends
I got a C in my English
I make cards and scrapbooks
And at the moment I am currently starting my leadership qualification with the girl guides
As you can see I have achieved a lot and my dyspraxia doesn't stop me.
So if you are a young adult who had just been diagnosed then I say welcome to the unique world of dyspraxia or if you have like me have had dyspraxia for a number of years and like to read then hi and welcome to my world.
I see my dyspraxia as part of my personality with out it I would be pretty dull.
